In other news, I'm in jersey and have been for 2 weeks - which means I have to go home in 6 weeks :( Loving it here - the work's hard and mostly quite repetitive, but I'm getting more responsibility as I get better known there and some of the birds I'm looking after are adorable! Hooded pittas and red-crested turacos are currently my favourites - aww!
Internet here is somewhat...neolithic, so I'm only checking emails once a day if that - which gives me more time for taking photos and drawing! I should have another horse commission to do when the photo finally arrives...so yay money! And now I'm going to plug Eric and Thickpea elsewhere...

So, Harry Potter's finished. Rome's finished. The only thing actually worth watching on telly is Mock the Week, and it's still bloody raining!
On the plus side, Harry Potter was amazing! Rome was amazing - James Purefoy <3! Went to see Chicago the other day which was also really good. And I've got some drawing done, and I have a commission to draw my cousin's friend's horse - which for some reason is called Folly...oh yes, and my mum's book is being published, with my illustrations inside. There will be links and pluggage when it's actually available, but keep an eye out for Eric and Thickpea, and recommend it to everyone you know, and I'll be eternally grateful...

OK, so having talked on MSN every day for about 2 months, MSN is broken and I can't think of anything to do - bah! OK, so I'm actually doing some very important...watching of Desperate Housewives and meandering round the more obscure pages of Wikipedia. Hmm. Ooh, and Edie is evil!

OK, so I've played copious amounts of Sims 2, bought things from Amazon, taught myself to crochet (like you do) and opened the last of my presents - we were planning to go down to have a meal out with my relatives in Leicester, but my aunt got shingles so twas postponed - she's recovering now apparently, but they ended up posting my presents to me. I got a piggy bank - wonder if they were trying to say anything.....but it's STRIPY and PURPLE and therefore wonderful!
Now, once I've finished writing in here, there are several possible activities - I could start revision proper, which I really, really could do with doing, or I could build more sim houses, or start drawing the pets (I think I owe mum and dad several anniversary present/birthday presents in pet-portrait form), or I could do some more illustrations for mum's book - she keeps nagging me to draw her a rat, but I keep trying to explain that she wants it for the front cover of a CHILDRENS book, in which case it needs to be colourful! OK, so not bright and garish paint-box colours, but at least something slightly more interesting than a pencil drawing of a rat! I also have redesigning my website on the to-do list, plus I have to email Jersey Zoo to sort out work experience placement stuff. Looks like I may have a first step to getting some actual experience in a real zoo! Woo!
But first things first, shower then revision. poo.
Oh, and enough with the rain already - if it's going to be miserable, it could at least get a grip on its January-weather ass and get on with the snow!

So far today Superman, Miss Marple and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves have been cancelled - presumably in case the sight of a bloke in red and blue lycra will cause everyone to collapse into tears when it reminds them of the dictator who was assassinated today...

So, what do you generally do less than half an hour before your birthday - of course, LJ update! Well, it was inevitable that I stayed up til gone midnight wasn't it!
Hmm, I'm still not sure I'm old enough to be 21. I seem to have difficulty understanding where all the time went since my 18th, then I remember the small insignificant things like A-Levels, 2 and a half years of uni, and 30-odd pet portraits... But 21 (less 20 mins) feels good :)
Other stuff - got all coursework in on time (just), and now only a small matter of 2 exams in Jan/Feb, for which I will not be revising in the immediate future. So yea, life is good. Tomorrow will be lazy day, til the evening when I'm out for a meal with ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) chaotica_ and the parentals and my godfather :) Woo! 21 is good!

Wow, I was on telly for a whole 3 seconds! The story went rather well I think, we sounded good anyway! Pity they got the conductor's name wrong, it's Peter Taylor, not Williams!
OK, now I have a project meeting tomorrow afternoon, by which time my supervisor is expecting a near-completed writeup. This he is not currently getting. I think it's going to be a long night if I can stay up that long. If I can't, I'll sleep well and not worry cos I'm not worrying about anything very much at the moment. Feeling rather christmassy and happy :)

FREEEEEDOM! At long bloody last! And now I believe an hour of half-hearted packing while singing along to music at the top of my voice may be in order.
And in other news, fook me it's HOT! I've packed all my half-decent vest tops so I was wearing a baggy t-shirt. I had to walk to Ranmoor halls for the exam, which takes about 40 mins. In the sun.
Too-warm clothes + walking briskly + a little seasoning = roasted Laura. But now I have ice cubes, cooler clothes and all is right with the world. Woo! Freedom!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
That was actually so bad it was funny! Ron Howard - where did your subtlety go? You directed A Beautiful Mind, you can do subtlety, surely! But alas, no. Let's point out every detail of the convoluted plot to the morons watching, in case they haven't read the book and/or have no imagination at all! Let's zooooooom in right up close and personal on Tom Hanks working on deepening those frown lines while he mutters to himself superfluously about something we worked out 3 weeks ago! And the music was as unsubtle as the directing - Again, from someone who really should know better. Hans Zimmer did the music for Batman Begins, which was GREAT music! What happened? Did everyone who made this suddenly and simultaneously have a bad day?
Then again, Paul Bettany is a GOD! And a scary one at that. And Ian McKellen was his usual marvellous self, and he gets the only intended laughs in the film - unintended laughs aplenty though..."We must get to a library" or something along those lines was a particular highlight!

No, I haven't been watching all the way through, which is clear as my brain is still intact. I've just got in from an evening of comic song with some people from Singsoc - so, so good! Songs by Tom Lehrer, Monty Python and Victoria Wood among others, sung by really good singers getting progressively more pissed. My jaw aches from laughing!
